The J79 Engine

The J79 was one of the first engines with fully interchangeable modules. This allows for a fully flexible maintenance plan. Interchangeable modules save time and money by reducing spare parts requirements, engine maintenance time, and the degree of skill required by maintenance personnel. Replacement modules involve no trim or adjustments, saving fuel and wear on hot section parts.

  • Models currently operational are -11, -15, -17, and -19.
  • Today, 9 U.S. Government sanctioned countries currently operate the J79 engine.
  • Projected to operate beyond the year 2010.
